Hardwood floors are a popular option for homeowners. However, investing in natural hardwood flooring can prove to be quite expensive, making them out of reach for some homeowners. This does not mean that you cannot have wood flooring in your home, though. An economical alternative that you could consider is engineered timber flooring. This flooring is made from materials that are made up of timber and other composites, so they are not solid wood. Here are some of the reasons why you should considered engineered timber flooring for your home.

Engineered timber flooring resembles natural wood

A misconception some people have about engineered timber flooring is that it looks fake and tacky. The truth of the matter is that this type of flooring is just as aesthetically appealing as real wood. The timber is designed to mimic the appearance of different species of wood, so you can rest assured you can get wood flooring in accordance to your personal taste. Only close inspection of your floors would indicate that it is actually engineered wood rather than natural timber materials.

Engineered timber flooring is durable

One of the disadvantages of natural wood flooring is that it is susceptible to wear and tear for a variety of reasons. If you would like to avoid rigorous maintenance measures to keep your flooring in pristine condition, then you should consider engineered timber flooring. Firstly, engineered timber is designed to be resistant to expansion and contraction. As such, you would not have to worry about your floor warping or cracking due to changes in temperature all year round. Secondly, engineered timber flooring is moisture resistant. This makes it a good option for areas in your home that are constantly exposed to water such as the bathroom and the kitchen. Your engineered timber flooring will not rot or start decaying, unlike natural wood that would require regular sealing to keep it safe from water damage.

Engineered timber flooring is sturdy

Another reason to consider engineered timber flooring is because of how sturdy it is. This flooring is made up of several layers of plywood that have been bonded together. This forms a strong, solid block of wood. Once the layers have been bonded, a top layer of wood, known as lamella, is added onto the block of wood. All these layers function to ensure the engineered timber flooring is resistant to high impact. This makes this type of flooring suitable for high traffic areas, as it will not succumb to damage easily.
